SPECIFIC DESIGNATION

Protected Geographical Indication is the name of a region or specific place which serves to designate a product originating in that region or place and whose reputation is attributed to that geographical origin.

In other words, if a product can benefit from a PGI must demonstrate the link with the geographical environment is still present in at least one of the stages of production, processing or preparation, ie, you must prove that at least part of their production cycle originates in place that gives the name and has a reputation associated with the same region, so it is possible to link any of the product to soils, climate, animal or plant varieties or the know-how of the people in that region.
