PUENTE DE ALCONÉTAR BOUTIQUE HOTEL
CONTENS:
The town of Garrovillas is only a few kilometres from Cáceres. It is ten kilometres from the A-66 which connects Cáceres with Plasencia and which follows the old roman “Via de la Plata” (Silver Route), which used to cross the city and the “Puente de Alconétar” bridge which can today be seen spanning the waters of the Alcántara reservoir.
HOTEL INFORMATION
The Puente de Alconétar Boutique Hotel in Garrovillas is housed in an old Palace once used by the Counts of Alba de Liste, aristocrats who settled in the town in the fifteenth century. It was originally founded by Enrique Enríquez, the Lord of Garrovillas de Alconétar, and was in use up to the twentieth century.
Fachada de la Hospedería
The Palace is in the majestic Plaza Major (main square) which was constructed between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and has been declared a Spanish Monument of Historical-Artistic Interest. The Hotel has 20 rooms, one of which is a suite, which occupy the second and third floors of the building. All rooms on the third floor have sloped ceilings. Wood, black slate and terracotta tiled floors can be found throughout the building which has retained the original staircase.
All of the rooms in this four star Puente de Alconétar Boutique Hotel have wooden floors, television, mini-bar, telephone, safe, air conditioning and heating. Some have views of Plaza Mayor while others look out over the Iglesia de San Pedro church.
The first floor of the Hotel contains lounges, some of which are private and have a total capacity of 150 people, and a restaurant for 50 diners. This floor also contains a beautiful terrace which uniquely, with its wide balcony doors, forms part of the Plaza Mayor. Hotel guests can enjoy a magnificent garden area with swimming pool, summer terrace, parking, etc.

SURROUNDING AREA
Garrovillas has a magnificent historical-artistic heritage which spans the period from prehistoric times to the fifteenth and sixteenth century. It was during this later period when not only the beautiful Plaza Mayor but also the majority of the religious buildings were constructed. The Iglesia Parroquial de San Pedro Church was built in the ogival style and the Santa María Church and the Convent of San Antonio de Papua were constructed in the fifteenth century.
Next to the town of Garrovillas is the Alcántara reservoir, a very rich area for those who enjoy water sports and, above all, for fishermen since the catches from the reservoir are world famous.
