VALLE DEL JERTE BOUTIQUE HOTEL
ÍNDICE:
La Hospedería Valle del Jerte is in period of reform and pending its reopening.
INTRODUCCIÓN
The town of Jerte is in the Valle del Jerte district of Extremadura. The river of the same name runs through the town, as does the Ex-110 which connects Plasencia to the neighbouring area of Ávila. The Hotel can be reached from Plasencia by crossing this emblematic valley or from Ávila through the Puerto de Tornavacas.
HOTEL INFORMATION
The Valle del Jerte Boutique Hotel is housed in a building which for many years was used for tanning leather but which in the mid-twentieth century was turned into a mill for making olive oil.
Magnificently restored, most of the building’s original structures have been retained to create this welcoming four star boutique hotel with a total of 25 rooms; 23 double rooms, one with lounge and two single rooms. Some have a sloping roof. All rooms have a telephone, television, mini-bar, air conditioning, heating, safe and beautiful views of the Jerte Valley.
The first floor of the Hotel contains a large lounge, a cafe and a welcoming restaurant with seating for 50 diners where there is no shortage of exquisite typical local and regional dishes. The terrace, with its views of the river and Valley, leads to a beautiful garden area called the "Japanese Garden".
The Hotel has parking and guests have access to a natural swimming pool next to the Hotel.
From the Valle del Jerte Boutique Hotel guests can take part in activities such as horse riding through the Valley, hiking, bicycle rides, fishing, etc.
SURROUNDING AREA
In addition to its fame as a typical Jerta town with fantastic architecture, it is also known for its unforgettable beauty in Spring when all the cherry trees in the area blossom. These trees produce a magnificent crop of cherries.
The Iglesia Parroquial de Ntra. Señora de la Asunción church dates back to the eighteenth century and once in the town we can visit the famous Barrio de los Bueyes neighbourhood, one of the oldest parts of Jerte.
Outside the town visitors can visit the Garganta de los Infiernos Nature Reserve Interpretation Centre. The Nature Reserve is a heavenly place where, in addition to the interesting animal life, visitors can enjoy a trip to the well known area of “los Pilones”, home to some of the most beautiful countryside in the north of Extremadura.
The famous Route of Carlos V goes through both Jerte and the Nature Reserve. This route was once used by the Emperor to travel from Tornavacas to Jarandilla de la Vera and then on to the Monasterio de Yuste. From Jerte guests have a choice of visiting this beautiful valley, the neighbouring districts of La Vera and Valle del Ambroz or discovering the historical and surprising city of Plasencia, home to countless historical and artistic buildings. Let us not forget that in la Vera guests can visit the Monasterio de Yuste.
