  • Historical reenactment in the ancient city of Cáparra, which takes the visitor back to the life and times of the Roman Empire.

During the month of May, the Roman town of Cáparra recovers the splendour which it enjoyed long ago when it became municipium de Roma under the Emperor Vespasian.

Floralia recalls the pomp and pageantry which took place in the Roman Empire with the arrival of spring. An event which recreates this tradition year after year, with the utmost historic accuracy, a great Roman festival where visitors participate in the customs and the life of the Romans.

The ruins of Cáparra, between the municipalities of Oliva de Plasencia and Guijo de Granadilla, are the perfect scenario for this historical reenactment, which has become a veritable act of coexistence between lovers of Roman history.

An event which also highlights this Roman site which is prepared and decorated especially for the occasion. The women, in period dress, honour all visitors who come to Cáparra to take part in Floralia. On arrival, visitors are escorted by gladiators and Roman soldiers, who accompany them to the interior of the enclosure, where everything has been made ready for the great Roman festival, with markets, theatrical performances and even a tavern from the era.

Reenact history and come to ancient Rome through a festival which enables the visitor to become familiar with the customs of Roman civilization and to see the extensive historical and natural heritage of the region of Trasierra and Tierras de Granadilla from the inside.
