  • A stop on the road in the shade of this three-hundred-year-old tree will help you regain strength to continue your journey after passing through Barrado.

Half-way between La Vera and the Jerte, on the hill known as Collado de Paula, stands the oak tree called El Roble Grande de La Solana. A singular tree, but not for its size, rather for its beautiful shape and the history it has sheltered under its branches. In the shade of the Roble Grande de La Solana the teams of people who came to work on the land would gather to rest, eat, plan their chores and pay wages. A good place with good shade, as this three-hundred-year-old oak, which grew up in the middle of the woods, stands 18 metres tall and has a treetop spanning over 29 metres.
