Practically in the centre of Barcarrota, you will find the town's bullring, one of the oldest in Extremadura. But don't look for an ordinary bullring, as the one in Barcarrota was built in the late 19th century in the parade ground of the castle, known as the castle of the seven towers, which had been ceded to Barcarrota town council by its owners in 1852.
If you happen to be in Barcarrota during the first two weeks of September, you will be able to enjoy the bullfighting festival in honour of its patron, the Virgen del Soterraño, either in the form of full bullfights or 'vaquillas del aguardiente' bull runs.
