  • The natural characteristics of the Borbollón reservoir have made it the habitat of a wealth of birds and a perfect birdwatching area.

The Borbollón Reservoir SPA in Cáceres lies on the waters of the river árrago, which come down from the Sierra de Gata mountains. The open waters of this reservoir are home to a diverse range of water birds, and the centre contains wet plains that have become the perfect breeding-ground for storks and an ideal resting-place for cormorants, cranes and greylag geese.

This reservoir offers incomparable scenery thanks to the dehesas or pasture lands covered in holm-oak woods that surround it. A natural spectacle you simply cannot miss, especially in summer. During this season the wetland is at its most beautiful, as it is full of numerous species not only of birds, but also of fish, like the boga (leporinus obtusidens), and mammals like the European otter.

The ecological peculiarities of this reservoir have led to its declaration as a protected space, which has in turn favoured the presence of a rich bird life. The area is a haven of peace where you can also practise water sports such as sailing. Enjoy a few days with the family and discover all the activities offered by the sailing club.
