Catalogued as an inland water area, this SPA located in the municipality of Brozas, in Cáceres province, contains an important population of Mediterranean turtles. Of the birds you can espy around the wetland, perhaps the most notable are the colonies of cattle egrets and in winter, concentrations of common cranes. The presence of ferruginous ducks is another highlight, as they are an endangered species.
