This event combines theatre and culture by way of street settings that are used to stage the classical plays of the Siglo de Oro
Once a year the streets of Caceres become a hive of theatrical and cultural activity during the classical theatre festival to which the city lends its name. This is without doubt a marvellous opportunity afforded by this monumental city to experience the performance arts - stage, dance, music and even film - while at the same time savouring its beauty.
Organised by the Caceres Gran Teatro Consortium, festival events are staged at such unique settings like the Plaza de las Veletas, Plaza de San Jorge or Gran Teatro while parallel, fringe events like the Off Festival occupy other beautiful spots around the city such as Carvajal Palace or Museo Pedrilla.
