The Mirabel Castle stands on a strategic point from which neighbouring towns can be controlled.
The Mirabel Castle, of which some ruins from the restorations carried out in the 15th century by the Lords of Mirabel have been preserved, stands on high ground from which all the neighbouring towns can be controlled.
This was one of the fortresses owned by King Alfonso VIII after Plasencia was founded, but it was destroyed by the Almohad armies in 1196.
The archaeological remains found in the area, Roman, Arab and Germanic, lead us to believe that the castle was rebuilt several times, until centuries later, along with the town of Mirabel, it was incorporated into the lands of the Marquess of Mirabel.
The remains of what was an important fortress can be visited, the majority stemming from the alterations made under the tutelage of the Marquesses. -
