The Church of Purísima Concepción is located in the town of Hornachos and is the most representative Mudejar building in Extremadura, which has led to its declaration as a Historic-Artistic Monument.
The Church of Purísima Concepción in the municipality of Hornachos in Badajoz was rebuilt over a previous one in the time of the Catholic Monarchs and is one of the most representative Mudejar buildings in the region. The basilical structure is divided into three sections by brick arches and a polygonal apse with a ribbed roof.
A notable feature of the exterior is the masonry and brick finishing, which, together with the Mudejar style façade, has led to its classification as a Historic-Artistic Monument. In the interior you will find numerous treasures such as the 17th century altarpiece, the baptismal font by Juan Bautista Vázquez el Viejo, and a broad selection of tile work, paintings, images and grill work. -
