  • The historic site of Burguillos del Cerro in Badajoz has been declared a Cultural Heritage Site and shows traces of the Celtic, Roman and Visigoth peoples.

The town of Burguillos del Cerro is classified as a Cultural Heritage Site as a result of it being a historical and artistic complex. That's the least they could do, as it holds the remains of Celtic, Roman and Visigoth settlements as well as a large number of buildings and monuments from its historic past.

Both within the urban centre and outside its walls, Burguillos has buildings which remind us of its singularity, as an emblematic castle, the home of the chief magistrate and the royal prison, the church of Santa María de la Encina, the church of Saint John the Baptist, the parish of Saint John the Baptist and Santa María de la Encina and the convent of the Concepcionistas Franciscanas, which today is now the Town Hall.

Other noteworthy buildings are the hermitage of Christ, the monastery of Llagas de San Francisco, the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Amparo, the Plaza Alta and the Via Crucis at the entrance to the town to guide the pilgrims.
