Folklore festival considered to be one of the best of its kind in Spain, it is dedicated to traditional music and dance.
Every summer, in August, Fregenal de la Sierra holds its International Festival, which has been declared a Festivity of Tourist Interest of Spain. The fact is that Sierra International Festival is difficult to beat if you're a lover of popular culture and enjoy traditional music and dance, because it brings together folk groups from around the world for a whole week during which they make the roots of their native lands known through music.
The nightly, folk music performances along the Paseo de la Constitución, with the added attraction of an 18th century theme market, is one of the highlights of the week's programme. Other highlights are undoubtedly the two flamenco nights, at which important flamenco singers and dancers demonstrate their art in the beautiful cloister of San Francisco convent.
Music workshops, food and drink competitions, craft and antique markets are other activities that form part of the Sierra International Festival programme.
