  • Its pre-Roman past has left its mark on this Cáceres town.

Historic buildings and the traces left there by the Vettone hill forts represent just some of the cultural wealth of the town. Nonetheless, one of the most important dates in its history is that of 4 April 1566 when it was named an illustrious town.

Among its most representative monuments is the stone column or pillory that currently stands in the centre of the town's main square. As regards its festivities, you should try not to miss its carnival, Holy Week, the May Cross, San Juan, Santiago Apóstol, the fiestas of the Virgen del Rosario and All Saints' Day. Any of these fiestas is an ideal excuse to visit and taste any one of the traditional dishes in Garciaz: the chestnut stew, its white gazpacho and the "torrijas" (puddings).
