In the 2nd century AD this bridge connected the two banks of the river Alagón.
On the road from the municipality of Guijo de Granadilla in the province of Cáceres to Zarza de Granadilla, near Cáparra, you will find the old Roman bridge, which you can see above the waters of the river Alagón. Reduced to its minimum expression, this 2nd-century construction is formed by a vaulted arch that was to be covered by the water after the Guijo de Granadilla dam was built. It is only preserved as a testimony, reconstructed in the middle of the water, stripped of its original function.
