  • An austere exterior that safeguards one of the jewels of Extremadura's Renaissance inside it - the main altarpiece.

Even though no accurate data are available regarding the foundation of this church, it is believed that it was built in the 16th century. We do know, however, that subsequent alterations took place in the 18th century, giving it its current appearance.

It is comprised of a single nave topped by a barrel vault with lunettes and a polygonal transept with a ribbed vault.

Although its outside is austere, the interior contains a piece of decorative art that is probably the most important one in all Fregenal: the main altarpiece, which dates back to the 16th century and is considered one of the jewels of the Renaissance in Extremadura. But this is not the only artwork worth visiting, as we can also find the altarpiece of the birth of Jesus here, along with the chapels of El Sagrario and Bravo Murillo.
