This Badajoz town of Llera, once occupied by the Visigoths, is characterised by the numerous springs to be found in its environs.
The history of this Badajoz town dates back to Visigothic times, around 600 AD, though the earliest documents date its foundation to 16th century. The chapel of Nuestra Señora de Tentudía also dates from this time. Nonetheless, its cultural heritage you will find is much more comprehensive than this, as exemplified by the parish church of San Sebastián, the chapels of San Bartolomé and Santa Ana and the convent of Third Order of St. Francis, which dates back to the 17th century.
The town is also famous for its fiestas, such as those in honour of San Bartolomé, Easter Monday, the "Candelas", those in honour of Santa Ana and carnival. All of which are dates not be missed. Moreover, you can make the most of your stay to visit the Canchal del Rey reservoir was well as that of Los Molinos, where you can see some of the most emblematic birds of these unique surroundings, such as the storks and eagles. -
