  • Mérida is traditionally a bullfighting town, but the current bullring was not built until the 20th century.

    The capital of the autonomous community of Extremadura has a tradition of bullfighting and its own bullring, which was inaugurated on 5th July 1914. Also known as San Alvín, its stands are made of wood and its walls of brick. Its front rows and stands are distributed over three storeys. It has a capacity of 8,700. It also has corrals, bullpens, an infirmary, a chapel, a box office and yards for horses and bullfighting teams.
