A perfect place to learn about the history of Christianity and the city's culture in depth
Due to renovation works in progress only the the Museum of Religious Art is open to visitors.
The Coria Cathedral Museum is based in the 15th-century cathedral cloister and in the outbuildings adjacent to it: the Reliquary Chapel, Baptistery, Vestry, old Chapter House and the Treasury. All the outbuildings form part of a museum that safeguards paintings from the Flemish studios done on copper in the 17th century, Baroque paintings and some silverwork from the 18th and 19th centuries. In short, many elements from the history of Christianity and the culture of Coria.
If you decide to visit it, don't miss the Chapter House. There you'll find the jewel in the crown: the relic of the tablecloth from the Last Supper. Also of interest are the baptismal font, the Virgin of Los Angeles by Lucas Mitata, the triptych of the Annunciation by Alonso Cañete, and the Wood of the True Cross and the Holy Thorn
