The Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de Gracia is the most monumental religious building in the municipality of Berlanga in Badajoz and for this reason it has been declared a Historic-Artistic Monument.
Without doubt, the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de Gracia is the most monumental religious building in the municipality of Berlanga in Badajoz, as can be appreciated by the great staircase which presides over it. In former times it was known as the church of Nuestra Señora de los Milagros, but its real origin is Mudejar, although it has been renovated on a number of occasions as can be appreciated by the Baroque details.
Access is gained to this sacred place through one of three doors. Once inside you will admire its basilical central body with three naves, divided into four sections and with a doorway at the end. In the apse there was a rood screen in the great tower which was accessed by a stairway. Below, there was the baptismal chapel, from which a primitive 15th century baptismal font still remains But the most remarkable decorative feature is the Mannerist style of its walls. -
