In the Sierra de San Cristóbal Mountains you can find the only known Tartessian tin mine in Western Europe.
Between the rock faces of the Sierra de San Cristóbal Mountains you can find the oldest archaeological site in the town of Logrosán (Cáceres). It is a place with many attractive features, like its landscape and culture.
It is part of the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark, which is full of traces of mining carried out in the protohistoric period, that is, between the 9th and 6th century BC. It is the only known Tartessian tin mine, and, together with Costanaza and El Serranillo mines, it is part of the "Minas de Logrosán".
Various archaeological studies that have been carried out in the area have unearthed remains of different human settlements in the mountains, from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, and a mining site that dates from the 1st millennium BC. -
