  • Thanks to its long history (almost 500 years) and its originality, with beautiful images that are taken in procession through the historic quarter, Easter week in Trujillo has earned the Festivity of Tourist Interest in Extremadura designation.

Because of its history and artistic heritage, and important civil and religious architecture, Trujillo is a beautiful setting where stations of penance take place. Easter week in Trujillo is special because the amazing images are carried though the historic quarter, and it is a festivity that truly moves visitors.

This Easter week celebration has an identity of its own. It boasts the Festivity of Tourist Interest in Extremadura designation and many people come to see it every year, from Spain and abroad.

The processions take place in a unique setting, like a living history museum, in which the locals get involved.

The processions begin with Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. This event starts off the week of the passion of Christ in this city in the province of Cáceres. You shouldn't miss the entry and exit of the images in the churches, or the "Magnas" processions on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday in the Plaza Mayor square.

The Penitential Via Crucis on Easter Monday in the Medieval Village, and the Silent procession in the early hours of the morning on Saturday are also important moments in Trujillo's Easter week, which has been designated a Festivity of Tourist Interest in Extremadura.
