Sierra De Siruela SPA and SCI

This SPA in the province of Badajoz occupies the most abrupt area of the La Siberia region, and is located between the villages of Siruela and Garlitos. The reservoir of La Serena and the Esteras and Guadalemar rivers bathe its terrain.

Forests of holm-oaks, cork-oaks, gall-oaks, junipers and wild olive trees dominate the scenery here, along with imposing rocky cliffs that are the home of numerous rupicolous birds, such as Bonelli's eagles, golden eagles, griffon vultures, Egyptian vultures and black storks; along with other species more associated to forests like cinereous vultures and northern goshawks.

This area is also frequented by Spanish imperial eagles, due to the abundant game, and cinereous vultures have nested here. Moreover, there have been sightings of the Iberian lynx, which shares the same terrain as the Mediterranean turtle.
