How to get to

  • This theatre is well preserved and nowadays offers a wide variety of shows.

In Plaza Minayo you can find the most important theatre in Badajoz, which boasts a large stage.

Around 1861 the plenary sessions at Badajoz City Hall highlighted the need for a theatre in the city. But it was not actually opened officially until 30 October 1886, 25 years later.

Unfortunately there was a fire at the theatre during the Civil War and it had to be rebuilt. It was not reopened again until 1940.

It currently offers a top quality programme for children and adults, with important shows that are successful all over Spain.

But if you want theatre at its best, come to the Badajoz Theatre Festival, which takes place every autumn. Here you can discover the true essence of Spanish theatre. It lasts several days and features plays by important classic and contemporary writers.
