Located in the very heart of the Sierra de Gata mountains, this Cáceres town is nestled amid fabulous, unspoilt landscapes that have been admired by both Muslims and Christians through the centuries.
Trevejo lies within the municipality of Villamiel, regarded as the very essence of the Sierra de Gata mountains. In the past, its strategic location led to its being occupied by both Muslims and Christians, as it affords views over the entire region as well as the Garduño, Albilla, San Pedro and Cachaza mountains.
Both cultures have left their mark on Villamiel, which can still be seen today through the area's rich heritage and typical architecture, including the 15th century Trevejo Castle and the church of San Juan, which has anthropomorphic tombs excavated from solid granite
Rich heritage in an unbeatable setting that creates a sea of tranquillity in the very heart of nature. -
