Zafra International Livestock Fair

The Zafra International Livestock Fair, is one of the most important in the sector. So much so, that for the festivities of San Miguel more than a million and a half people arrive in this town to take part in or to visit this great livestock fair.

The story goes that King Juan I granted a weekly market in 1380 which would be extended in 1395 with a market for the festival of San Juan. But it was King Juan II who began to celebrate a new edition of the market each year for San Miguel, the royal precedent for the fair that we know today and whose aim was to improve livestock breeds. But nowadays not only the livestock breeders attend. If you come to visit the Zafra International Livestock Fair you will also find all types of craftsmen, who take advantage of this international encounter to present their produce to the world.
