The leaves are falling but the festivities go on
The countryside dresses up in beautiful golds and reds, but the festivities still go on in Extremadura.
The autumn landscape completely changes the colour of Extremadura, but not the rhythm of its festivities. The municipalities which make up this region leave a space in their calendar for some of the most representative events in the Extremadura tradition.
This is demonstrated by festivities of a religious nature, such as the Encamisá de Torrejoncillo, where devotion can truly be felt on the night of 7 December, and Los Escobazos, in Jarandilla de la Vera, where the town is lit up by burning brooms in honour of the Immaculate Conception, both of these events are considered to be Festivities of Tourist Interest in Extremadura and National, respectively.
The Magic Autumn in the Ambroz Valley, Festivity of International Tourist Interest, is celebrated with an extensive programme of cultural and leisure activities throughout the month of November. Celebrations towards this season are hold as well in Jerte Valley with the 'Otoñada'; in Sierra de Gata with 'Échate a soñar' and in the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark with 'Geodisea'.
But you can also enjoy the San Miguel de Zafra Fair, celebrated at the end of September, where the International Livestock Fair has become a global reference in the world of livestock breeding. In addition you can enjoy the medieval market in Cáceres in November.
