Convention Centres

If you are travelling to Extremadura for business purposes, you won’t be disappointed. Extremadura has skilfully combined the best of tradition with its firm commitment to the future, economy and sustainable development. Its aim is to hold a privileged position in the business tourism sector, and to do, it offers visitors comprehensive convention centres equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, in order to meet all the demands of those who decide to hold their congresses, conventions or events in this Autonomous Community.

Starting with the province of Badajoz, in the autonomous capital we have the Mérida Convention Centre, a unique architectural design situated on the banks of the Guadiana River, with spectacular views over the city, joining the architectural present and past. With an area of almost 20,000 m² divided into 5 floors, the Mérida Convention Centre has a large auditorium, multipurpose rooms and exhibition halls.

In the city of Badajoz we also have an ideal space for hosting our event: Badajoz Convention Centre, chosen by the MoMA in New York as one of the most representative Spanish buildings of new Spanish architecture, embodying the avant-garde and the recovery of architectural heritage. In the very heart of the city, over 17,000m² at your disposal, with an auditorium, large multi-purpose rooms and a VIP area.

In Cáceres you have two exceptional spaces for holding your event or congress: the Complejo Cultural San Francisco and Cáceres Convention Centre. The former offers a unique space that perfectly combines new technologies with a variety of Renaissance, Colonial Isabelline and Baroque styles. It also has an auditorium, gardens and everything you need for hosting a perfect event.

And for more important events, you have Cáceres Convention Centre, a functional and versatile building featuring the largest stage space in Extremadura with an area of more than 22,000m². Its huge auditorium, with 1281 seats is ideal for large congresses or performances. In addition, the meeting rooms, exhibition halls, auditoriums, VIP area, press area or dressing rooms, among other facilities.

In the north of Extremadura we have Plasencia Convention Centre with a total built area of 11,388 m², and a main auditorium with seating for 800-1,000; located above the auditorium is a multi-purpose room with a seating capacity of 300, which may be separated into three rooms with a seating capacity of 100 each; a 1,000 m² exhibition area; and on the upper level another 300 m² area for catering. Access to the building, which looks like a ship moored at a granite pier, is along an orange walkway that leads into a large space or entrance. 

Finally, Villanueva de la Serena Convention Centre with an avant-garde design reminds us of an enormous bale of straw that merges harmoniously with the landscape, and has three separate spaces: the garden and the public square, the convention centre-auditorium (below ground level) and the cube (above ground level), 'tied' with thick golden-colour ropes. The Convention Centre has an auditorium of 726 m² and a seating capacity of up to 800, designed as a multi-purpose venue (congresses, conferences, workshops, theatre, concerts…); and with a 'chamber hall' of 283 m² which offers a seating capacity of 275, ideal for conferences, music and theatre.
