El otoño colorea Extremadura

With the fall of the heat and the easing of the temperatures, autumn becomes a perfect time to visit many of the most iconic enclaves of our region.

Although leaves and temperatures fall in autumn, what almost never falls is the desire to explore new destinations... and new cuisines.

A tour of the wine lands in France? A getaway to Switzerland and its exquisite cheeses? A route through the culinary delights of the Italian Tuscany?

Maybe you don’t have to seek an incredible autumn outside our borders. Extremadura opens its doors to you to sign up for a decidedly gastronomic escape.

And, if something gives us our stunning pastures, it is our own unique products that proudly defend their Denomination of Origin.

Indulge in the pleasures of our ham, cheese or oil and they will be a sure hit. But combining them with local wines guarantees an entirely recommendable experience.

Special mention should also be made of some of the most distinctive dishes of the area, such as fried breadcrumbs, stews or gazpacho from Extremadura, all of them always seasoned with our renowned La Vera paprika.

In addition, with the fall of the heat and the easing of the temperatures, autumn becomes a perfect time to visit many of the most iconic enclaves of our region. Places like the Sierra de Gata exhibit their colorful costumes to offer suggestions with names like the 'Magical Autumn' of the Ambroz Valley (of International Tourist Interest) or the 'Autumn Time' of the Valle del Jerte.

If what attracts you most is famous architecture, the Cathedral of Plasencia opens its doors to you, giving you the feeling of the most inspiring Parisian Gothic architecture. Equally attractive is the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe, an all-pervading place, declared a World Heritage Site, as stunning on the inside as on the outside

However, it’s magic is not only in grandiosity. For example, and to the surprise of many visitors, Jerez de los Caballeros hides the striking Church of San Bartolomé, whose unique façade reveals a different image of liturgical iconography.

When autumn knocks on the door, Extremadura responds, offering a proposition as exquisite to the eye as to the palate. And it is sometimes surprising to find everything you imagine, where you least expect it…
