Sport and Nature

Extremadura's natural wealth makes the region an unparalleled destination for enthusiasts of sports practised in the open air, such as golf.

If you like open-air sports and you play golf, Extremadura is definitely tailored to fit your taste. Because as well as being able to practise your favourite sport on top-quality golf courses, you can enjoy the wonderful nature that surrounds them.

If you are travelling to Badajoz, make anote of the two golf courses in this province: Golf Guadiana and Don Tello Golf.

The former is located just 8 km from the centre of Badajoz, and is therefore ideal for combining sports with activities in the heart of the city. The course has 18 holes, par 72.

And the Don Tello Golf Club course has 9 holes, par 36, and is located in a meadow 10 km from Mérida, next to the Guadiana, where it is easy to spot indigenous fauna beside the fairways - especially ducks - as you play.

In the province of Cáceres there is a wider range of golf courses. The courses of Golf Isla de Valdecañas, Norba Club de Golf (in Cáceres town) and Talayuela Golf have 18 holes, par 72; whilst Galisteo Golf has 9 holes, par 36 and the Parraluz course has 9 holes, par 35.

Norba Club de Golf is 4 km from the town of Cáceres, declared a World Heritage SIte by UNESCO.

The Golf Isla Valdecañas complex is located in the municipality of El Gordo, a unique enclave for enjoying open-air sport in the midst of nature.

Located almost in Navalmoral de la Mata, a few kilometres from the La Vera district and integrated into a typical Extremadura dehesa, or pasture land, with holm-oaks and cork-oaks, you will findTalayuela Golf.

Between La Vera and the Jerte, Alagón and Ambroz Valleys lies Galisteo Golf, just 10 minutes from Plasencia.

And finally, Parraluz Golf, is located in Santibáñez el Alto, next to the Borbollón reservoir, with views of the Sierra de Gata mountains.
