How to get to

  • The tableland of Trujillo and Cáceres contains the Llanos de Trujillo SPA, an area of important natural heritage devoted to livestock breeding which shelters numerous bird species.

This protected space is occupied by a pseudo-steppe that is covered in graminoids, annual grasses and pasture lands, and cut through by the river Magasca. As you will see on your visit to the area, this region has been used to raise sheep, although the large number of birds that have adapted to it earns it the consideration as a valuable enclave and a highly-prized destination amongst birdwatchers.

But the wealth of steppe birds is not the only treasure this SPA holds in store, as it is also home to three important species of fish. And all this is due to its ecological peculiarities and its good state of conservation, both of which mean it has a wide diversity of flora and fauna. Without doubt an area with significant natural heritage.
