  • The fortified home of Don Diego de Ovando built on the Silver Way (Vía de la Plata) in the 15th century.

This castle was built on a hilltop where the Silver Way passes in site of Arguijuelas de Arriba by order of Don Diego de Ovando from Cáceres. The architect in charge of construction was Pedro de Larrea.

It is located near to the castle of Arguijuelas de Abajo, but it is slightly more elevated.

It comprises a spacious square around which the main building stands. The walls have battlements and there is a tower on each of the four corners, three of which are round and one prismatic.

There is a chapel nearby, a discreet building completed some years after the castle.
