The perfect place to try this delicacy from the dehesa pastures
Arroyomolinos is one of the 19 towns on the Montánchez Ham Route, the region in which it is located. If you are following the route, this town is well worth a stop to enjoy some DO Dehesa de Extremadura ham in a different setting.
One of the most important battles of the Peninsula War -ending in victory- took place in Arroyomolinos. It was known as the Batalla del Arroyo de los Molinos or the Sorpresa de Arroyomolinos (the Battle or Surprise of Arroyomolinos). Here a joint English-Spanish-Portuguese army under the orders of General Hill defeated the French troops of General Girard.
