Since 2012, each November, this town in Sierra de Gata organizes a meeting dedicated to birdwatching which includes field trips, workshops, photography contests, drawing contests, activities for children and much more.
Moraleja Vuela is held at the time of the year that common crane is the absolute protagonist of the event, which also promotes the natural resources and the Points of Ornithological Interest in the area, such as the El Chorrerón, the Feliciano Vegas Riverpark and y Las Cañadas (Interpretation Centre of El Regadío).
However, Moraleja and, specially, the nearby reservoir of El Borbollón, where many activities are held, is the home of many more species: white storks, great cormorant, black-headed gull, lesser black-backed gull, cattle egret, grey heron and Anatidae.
Birdwatching trips in the town, trekking routes, “crane meetings” by the El Borbollón reservoir, environmental workshops and photography contests (and drawing contests for children) are also included in the programme of Moraleja Vuela.
